The Benefits of Holistic Fertility Treatment

    Last updated 5 years ago

As an approach to medical treatment, holistic healthcare is characterized by its broad focus on all needs of the patient: physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual. The practice integrates conventional Western therapies and some alternative therapies, such as acupuncture, massage therapy, and meditation, to promote wellness of body and mind. In fertility treatment, the experts at Fertility Centers of Illinois have found that the holistic approach to fertility treatment can provide a variety of benefits and may increase pregnancy rates. Some of the benefits of holistic fertility treatment include helping you to:

    • Cope with negative feelings
Struggling with infertility problems can lead to feelings of frustration, anxiety, and even depression. Participating in yoga, meditation, and other relaxing activities can help you to center yourself mentally and approach your treatment with more calm, positivity, and confidence.
    • Build the relationship with your partner
Fertility problems can also place undue strain on any relationship. Your holistic fertility specialist will help you develop skills for communicating your feelings more effectively with your partner and resolving any conflicts that may arise. These skills, in turn, will help your relationship to remain strong throughout your journey to become parents.
    • Maintain calm and controlled in difficult situations
Despite focused efforts to remain patient and reserved, there are some situations that will be very irritating during this difficult time. Holistic treatment will help to balance you, body and soul, and allow you to maintain control of your emotions in these situations.
    • Build a strong network of support
When working to conceive, it is common to feel isolated from your friends and family. The holistic healing approach will help you and your partner to overcome these feelings and connect with those who are willing to offer their support.

A Basic Guide to Assisted Reproductive Techniques

    Last updated 5 years ago

As medical technology improved, men and women are provided with more advanced treatment options to assist them in their journey to become parents. From in vitro fertilization (IVF) to tubal embryo transfer (TET), prospective parents now have many effective Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ARTs) at their disposal. If you are considering undergoing fertility treatment to help you reach your goal of becoming a parent, learn more about some of your options from the guide below.

    • In vitro fertilization (IVF)
IVF is the most commonly performed ART technique in the United States. In fact, approximately 99 percent of all ART cycles performed are IVF according to the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology. To perform IVF, eggs are obtained from the patient and fertilized in vitro (in the lab) using her partner’s sperm. Once fertilized, the embryos are transferred back into the woman’s uterus in the effort to begin a successful pregnancy. At FCI, our age limit to undergo this ART treatment with your own eggs is 45 years of age.
    • Gamete Intra-Fallopian Transfer (GIFT)
GIFT was once used much more frequently than it is today. Although the GIFT process is very similar to the IVF cycle, GIFT involves placing both the harvested eggs and sperm back into the woman’s body to be fertilized instead of incubating in the lab. This technique requires surgery to place the gametes into the woman’s fallopian tubes.
    • Tubal Embryo Transfer (TET)
This procedure is typically used in patients who have an abnormality of the cervix and cannot have the in vitro-fertilized embryos placed into the uterus. Instead, the embryos are placed directly into the fallopian tubes.

Do you have remaining questions about one or more of the above treatments? If so, let Fertility Centers of Illinois be your resource. Call our staff today at (877) 499-8730 to set up a consultation.

About the Technology at Fertility Centers of Illinois

    Last updated 5 years ago

With recent advancements in medical technology and knowledge, fertility treatments are becoming more and more effective in helping people become parents. At Fertility Centers of Illinois, we understand the importance of cutting-edge technology to our patients.  That is why we have been offering only the most technologically advanced fertility treatments available for over three decades. Read on to learn more about some of the technology at the Fertility Centers of Illinois.

    • Egg and embryo vitrification
When freezing eggs or embryos for future use, using the traditional slow-freezing method can potentially damage the sensitive cells through ice crystal formation. The vitrification process preserves eggs and embryos using a rapid freezing technique, minimizing the damage to the cells and improving post-thaw survival rates.
    • Elective single embryo transfer
Elective single embryo transfer, or eSET, is one of the newest choices available for embryo transfer made available to IVF patients. eSET helps patients to avoid the complications that can be associated with having twins or other multiples while still providing excellent results. FCI proudly offers this technique and has experienced many successes with it.
    • Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD)
Also known as embryo screening, PGD allows the fertility specialist to test a developing embryo for the presence of harmful or deadly genetic diseases. These screens are performed in vitro before the embryos are transferred into the patient’s uterus. FCI provides patients with the full range of PGD services, including day 3 and day 5 trophectoderm biopsy, microarray, comparative genomic hybridization, and single gene disorder screening.

All of the above advanced reproductive technologies are offered in our state-of-the-art Chicago and Highland Park laboratories. If you are looking to learn more about the services, facilities, or fertility specialists offered by Fertility Centers of Illinois, please call us today at (877) 499-8730.
